Aksel Sandemose, född som Axel Nielsen den 19 mars 1899 i Nykøbing Mors, Danmark, död 6 augusti 1965 i Köpenhamn, var en dansk - norsk författare. I boken En flykting korsar sitt spår ( En flyktning krysser sitt spor, 1933) introducerade han begreppet Jantelagen. År 1963 nominerades han till Nobelpriset i litteratur .

The Jante Law as a concept was created by the Dano-Norwegian author Aksel Sandemose. In his novel A Fugitive Crosses His Tracks (En flyktning krysser sitt spor, 1933, English translation published in the USA in 1936) identified the Law of Jante as ten rules.

The Jante Laws are tongue-in-cheek rules of behavior for egalitarian Scandinavians, written in the 1930s.
